Lie #1: Burning Clean Coal
No one doubts there is a lot of coal around..some say enough for hundreds of years of continued plunder.
t could be used to provide clean energy from friendly governments such as West Virginia and Kentucky for decades and maybe centuries. Technology called varbon capture and sequestration (which allows coal to burn cleanly) has apparently been developed over the past decades, at least according to the American Coalition for
Clean Coal Electricity . The Editorial Board encourages you visit this website, backed by such member organizations as BHP Billiton (world's biggest mining corporation), Peabody Energy (biggest U.S. coal mining corporation), Arch Coal (third biggest U.S. coal mining corporation) CONSOL Energy (fourth biggest U.S. coal mining corporation) Foundation Coal (fifth biggest U.S. coal mining corporation) Duke Energy (biggest U.S. electric utility) and other objective participants for fair and balanced reporting on this topic.
Or if you need a good dark chuckle, go to
America'a Power.org, where you'll find a large picture of Barak Obama, apparently condoning the site's message. Check the "Ask the Experts" page. Who are these experts? Aren't these questions worded conveniently? Are there people on the planet stupid enough to believe this stuff?
(Yes)
Note that even this source of industry propaganda claims that such carbon sequestration plants would be built until 2020. In the meantime…ask, perhaps, why is the coal burning industry still fighting implementation of this technology, and what happened to the highly touted clean burning FutureGen prototype plant once scheduled to be built in Illinois. Kind of died, didn't it.
